Cronus, his father, was very worried because a prophecy said that one of his children would overthrow him. So, Cronus decided to swallow each of his children as soon as they were born. She hid baby Zeus in a cave on the island of Crete and gave Cronus a stone wrapped in a blanket, which he swallowed instead.
