It is break time at school, and everyone is excited to open their lunch boxes—except for one little girl sitting all alone. Her name is Leila. She is new to the school and to Yara's class and is very shy. She doesn’t have any food for lunch like the other kids and seems very embarrassed about it. Some kids are staring at her, some of the girls are whispering to each other talking. Yara notices her sadness and feels a tug in her heart. Instead of joining her friends, Yara walks over to Leila with a smile and offers to share her lunch. Yaras friends see this and suddenly feel very bad for not being kinder to Leila. Tito comes over and offers Leila his juice from his lunch box. Keena comes over and shares her fruit with Leila. They became friends and Leila is feeling very happy. In this touching story, children learn how one small act of kindness can make someone feel seen, included, and loved.

On May 10, 1869, the railroad was completed at Promontory Summit, UT, marking a new era in American transportation. Afterward, Li Wei and others faced discrimination in finding work and often lived in isolated Chinatowns. On October 24, 1871, violence erupted in Los Angeles’ Chinatown, killing 19 Chinese, including Li Wei’s friend. In 1875, grieving, Li Wei returned to China. The Transcontinental Railroad was transformative, yet costly for Chinese workers who made up most of the Central Pacific workforce. Facing discrimination and hazardous conditions, they were key to the railroad’s completion. Over 1,200 Chinese workers died, highlighting their sacrifice. Despite advancing U.S. infrastructure, they encountered ongoing hostility and laws against them. Their resilience underscores their overlooked role in shaping 19th-century America.

In a beautiful coral reef, Dolphin and Sea Turtle discover that their differences make their friendship special. One sunny day, Dolphin swims up to Sea Turtle. "Hey, let’s play together!" Dolphin quickly pulls the net with her nose, freeing her friend. Once safe, Sea Turtle says, "We’re so different, but we make a great team." Dolphin agrees, "Our differences make us stronger." They smile, knowing that true friendship embraces every unique part of who they are.
