Emma lives in Scarborough with her single mother. They live in an apartment building. Her mom does 2 jobs to make ends meet, however with high rent and cost of living, theyhardly have enough money for food. So one day, along with her mom, Emma goes to the local foodbank that is run by Feed Scarborough. At the foodbank, while Emma was waiting in one corner reading some fun books, while her mom was shopping at the foodbank, Emma saw a racoon walking around, playing with an apple. Emma started talking with the Racoon. Racoon told Emma that his name is Dignity, and the apple is his friend, named Hope. Dignity told emma all about food insecurity in our community and that she is not the only one who comes to the foodbank. Feed Scarborough's foodbanks are set up like a grocery store, so her mom can pick and choose the food that Emma likes. Dignity also told Emma about so many children, who are not having enough food to eat nowadays as times are tough. Dignity told Emma that better days are coming soon as Toronto's Mayor and Canada's Prime Minister is working together to have better food in school so no children need to study in empty stomach. As dignity was telling Emma these stories, suddenly Emma heard her Mom's voice, calling out to her. As she turned towards the door, she saw her mom asking her to come with her so they can leave the foodbank. As Emma turned back, Dignity and Hope was nowhere to be seen. Was Dignity and Hope real? Were they really there telling Emma the story or were they franction of her imagination, as on the wall, there was a poster of Dignity and Hope (which are the mascots of Feed Scarborough.

They relied heavily on hunting, and one of the most coveted animals was jochi pintao, a spotted peccary known for its speed and elusiveness. One day, the Tacana hunters set out to catch jochi pintao. They followed its tracks deep into the forest, but the animal was too clever and always managed to escape. The hunters grew tired and hungry, so they decided to rest under a tree. As they lay there, they heard birds singing above them. The birds, noticing the hunters' plight, decided to help. They flew down and spoke to the hunters, saying that they knew the secret of jochi pintao. The birds revealed that the peccary had been protecting something valuable—a hidden food source that could sustain the Tacana people for generations. Guided by the birds, the hunters followed jochi pintao once more, this time without trying to catch it. The peccary led them to a clearing where they discovered an unusual plant growing in the ground. This plant was yuca. The hunters dug up the roots, and the birds taught them how to prepare and cook the yuca, turning it into a nourishing meal. The Tacana believed that the yuca was a gift from the forest spirits, given to them by jochi pintao and the birds to ensure their survival. From then on, yuca became a staple food for the Tacana people, and they honored the animals and the forest that provided for them. This story underscores the Tacana's deep respect for nature and their belief in the interconnectedness of all living things. It also highlights the importance of yuca as a life-sustaining resource, symbolizing cooperation between humans and the natural world.

Tweet!—and a gentle breeze blew past—Whooosh! (Use a small whistle for birds and a shaker for the wind.) At the bus stop, the school bus arrived with a loud "Vroom! Honk!" Riley hopped on and found a seat as the bus rumbled down the road. (Use a drum roll for the bus engine and a horn for the honk.) One day Sammy brought up the fact that they hadn’t gotten rain for a while. Flipp agreed but they shrugged it off and continued to play. They continued to think to themselves that it would rain but after a week they still hadn’t gotten rain. Their pond began to dry up. One day Sammy and Flipp woke up and when they walked down to their pond excited to play, they were met with a dry hole. What was once their pond was now a giant muddy hole. Sammy couldn’t believe it “what are we going to do without a pond?” he muttered. Flipp began to say, “maybe it will rain and then it will fill back up”. Sammy agreed and he and Flipp sat in their muddy hole waiting for even the slightest drop of rain. Days passed without any rain the days were filled with boredom, Sammy began to ask, “will it ever rain?” Flipp responded “it will one day we just have to be patient”. One day while Flipp was curled up and Sammy was staring at the sky, Sammy felt a small drop on his forehead. “Flipp get up I felt a drop!” he screamed, Flipp perked up and looked at the sky more drops began to fall. They both stood up and started leaping with joy as it began to rain harder and harder. They watched as their pond slowly filled back up Sammy yelled “cannon ball!” and jumped in, Flipp watched and couldn’t wait any longer and then he splashed into their pond. They both splashed each other as the rain began to fall even harder. Every day they would play in their pond, and it continued to rain every day for them and they never had to worry about a dry pond again.

Emmi needed urgent care and medication, which I couldn't afford. But I didn't give up on Emmi. I decided to take her with me to Finland, where she could get the best care and attention she needed. It wasn't an easy journey, but with the help of kind people along the way, we finally made it to Finland. Emmi was thrilled to see the snow for the first time, and she couldn't stop jumping and running around. She had never felt so alive and happy again. She loved playing in the snow, chasing snowflakes, and cuddling up next to me in front of the warm fireplace.
