Mom sensed Janice's concern and led her into the master bedroom. She had Janice sit at her vanity, facing away from the mirror. Mom then applied a little foundation and powder to Janice's face and some pink lipstick to Janice's lips, saying that a girl of twelve doesn't need to use much makeup. She then went to her closet and removed a box. When she opened it, Janice saw that it contained a nicely styled wig. Additionally, the color matched her hair exactly. They told her how nice she looked as Janice smiled broadly. The girls spent the rest of the evening in he family room, welcoming their new sister and showing her how to do things like a girl. Janice changed into a pink waltz-length nightgown. Megan showed her how to remove her makeup and properly cleanse her face. Mom insisted that they needed to get some sleep and that they had the entire week to get know with their new sister. For Janice, sleep came easily, despite her excitement and newfound identity. She dreamed of being Mom's Christmas elf and wearing a green satin dress just like her sisters. She awoke the next morning happy and eager to face the day. The week went by quickly for the girls. Megan was Janice's primary teacher during the week but Lindsay and Kerry also helped. Janice was enjoying new persona, her sisters were enjoying having her with them. Before anyone realized it, it was Christmas Eve. Mom laid out Kerrie's and Lindsay's dresses, shoes, stockings and underwear for the next morning. Megan laid out her things without Mom's help. Noah finds a working space shuttle in his backyard. It's just big enough to fit him and his trusty side kick, Leo the gray golden-doodle. They climb in and the door closes. Leo accidentally steps on a big red button which turns the spacecraft on. They both look at each other in surprise. The spacecraft fizzles and pops and blasts off into space. Noah and Leo see earth, the moon, the stars and the sun from space. Noah and Leo start to miss their parents, so they pull the decent lever and the spaceship safely lands in the backyard. Noah and Leo climb out and hug each other, grateful to be back home.

We are small and have families too.” Snake: “I Don't care about your families. I am hungry, and you are food!” The snake ate as many fish as he could and slithered out of the river, his belly full. 3. 3 MEETING THE RABBIT At the river's edge, he saw a mother rabbit feeding her baby. Rabbit: “Please don't eat me, Mr. Snake. My baby needs me. She is too small to take care of herself alone.” Snake: “I only care about my hunger!” 4. THE CLEVER SQUIRREL AND BIRD High in a tree, a squirrel saw what was happening and called his friend, a bird. “We need to stop the snake Squirrel: “We need to stop the snake.” Bird: “Oh, mighty snake! did you know there’s a treasure hidden under the big oak tree? Only the strongest can find it!” 5. 5 FINDING THE TREASURE Curious and proud, the snake slithered to the oak tree, leaving the rabbit behind. He dug and dug but found nothing. Snake: “Where is the treasure?” Bird: “The treasure isn’t gold. It’s kindness.” Squirrel: “That's true. True strength comes from helping others, not hurting them.” 6. A NEW BEGINNING The snake thought about the fish and the rabbit and felt ashamed. “I want to be better,” he said. He apologized to the rabbit and promised to change. From that day on, the snake became friends with the squirrel, bird, rabbit, and even the fish. Together, they showed the forest that kindness is the greatest treasure.
