The Big Game
Johnny Kicks for Glory
Johnny dribbled the soccer ball across the field, his brown hair bouncing with each step. His teammate waved frantically, trying to signal that he was open for a pass. But Johnny was too focused on the goal ahead to notice, missing the warning about an approaching defender. Before he knew it, Johnny tumbled to the ground, scraping his knee on the rough field.

Tears welled in Johnny's eyes as he limped off the field toward his mom with her long black hair. "Mom! Mom! I fell and then—and the ball—and my knee hurts so bad!" he sobbed, words tumbling out too fast to understand. Mom knelt beside him, gently placing her hands on his shoulders. "Take a deep breath, Johnny," she said softly, demonstrating a slow breath for him to follow.

After Johnny calmed down and explained what happened, Mom walked him to the school nurse's station near the field. The elderly nurse with medium blonde hair smiled warmly as they entered. "Tell Nurse what happened to your knee, Johnny," Mom encouraged gently. Johnny bravely explained how he fell while playing, pointing to his scraped knee.

The nurse cleaned Johnny's scrape and applied a colorful bandage that made him smile. "You're all set to play again if you feel ready," she said with a kind pat on his shoulder. Johnny raced back to the field where his red-haired teammate gave him a high-five. In the final minutes of the game, Johnny listened carefully when his teammate called out, passing the ball perfectly before receiving it back to score the winning goal.
