The Arrival
Matildas yellow gumboots
Matilda lived on a farm, so wide and so grand. One sunny morning, a package arrived in her hand. Inside was a surprise, so shiny and new, a pair of yellow gumboots, just for her to debut. She put them on her feet, feeling happy and free, ready to explore, what wonders she would see.
1
Matilda skipped and hopped, her gumboots going clop clop. She visited the cows, who were chewing and slow, then she went to the sheep, their wool as white as snow. Next, she saw the horses, so strong and so tall, and the pigs in the mud, having a great big ball.
2
Matilda looked around, hoping to find a puddle to splash. But the sun was shining bright, there wasn't a single splash. She walked and she searched, feeling a little bit blue, until she found the ducks, swimming in a pond so true. They quacked and they waddled, having so much fun, Matilda wished for rain, to splash and to run.

Suddenly, the sky turned dark, the clouds began to roar. The rain started falling, more and more and more. Matilda's face lit up, as she felt the first drop, she danced in her gumboots, she just couldn't stop. The ducks joined her dance, flapping their wings with glee, together they splashed, as happy as can be.

The puddles grew bigger, as rain poured from the sky. Matilda jumped and splashed, feeling like she could fly. Her gumboots were magic, making her feel so bold, as she laughed and she twirled, in a world of pure gold. The ducks quacked in joy, as they danced all around, in the shimmering puddles, making such a cheerful sound.
5
The rain finally stopped, the sun came shining through, a rainbow appeared, with colors bright and true. Matilda smiled wide, feeling warm and so bright, her yellow gumboots glistening, what a wonderful sight. She waved to the ducks, as they flapped and they flew, feeling grateful for the rain, and the fun they all knew.
6
Matilda skipped back home, her gumboots going clop clop. She hugged her mum and dad, with a heart that wouldn't stop. She told them of her day, of the rain and the fun, of the ducks and the puddles, and all that she had done. They smiled and they listened, feeling so much pride, in their little girl, who had enjoyed the countryside.

As the day turned to night, and the stars filled the sky, Matilda snuggled in bed, with a contented sigh. She dreamt of the farm, and the rain's gentle hum, of the ducks and the puddles, and the joy that had come. With her yellow gumboots, she drifted off to sleep, in a world full of magic, so wondrous and deep.
