The Last Dragon

Once upon a time, in a small village, there lived a boy named Thomas. He was a curious little boy, always exploring the nearby forest. One day, as he was playing under an ancient oak tree, he stumbled upon something strange. Hidden among the roots was a large, shimmering egg that glowed softly. Thomas could hardly believe his eyes – could it be the egg of the last dragon?

Thomas gently took the egg in his hands and decided to take it home. He knew he had to keep it safe from harm. Each day, he whispered kind words to it, as if the little creature inside could hear him. Weeks passed, and one morning, Thomas awoke to find the egg beginning to crack. Out came a tiny, delicate dragon that looked at Thomas with bright, trusting eyes.

Thomas named the dragon Spark, because of the sparks that flew from its tiny wings when it was excited. They had wonderful adventures together, exploring the forest and learning about each other’s worlds. But soon, Thomas realized that taking care of a dragon wasn't easy. Spark grew bigger and needed more space and food, and Thomas worried about how he could protect his friend from those who might want to harm him.

One day, an old, wise wizard visited the village. Thomas knew he must seek his advice. The wizard listened and nodded, pleased by Thomas's love and care for Spark. The wizard offered to help Thomas find a secret sanctuary for Spark where he could grow safely and perhaps meet others of his kind. Thomas promised to visit Spark at the sanctuary, and they parted with the strongest bond of friendship. Thanks to Thomas, the last dragon lived on, and so did hope for the magical species.
